Red Sea resorts by coast: Hurghada, Sharm, Marsa Alam
Prices and details checked .
Sportextreme's Egypt list is nine five-star Red Sea resorts across three coastlines, priced per person per night from about 842 SEK. The coast you choose matters more than the star rating: Hurghada is the all-round base, Marsa Alam is the wildlife one, and Sharm El Sheikh sits closest to the national park reefs.

From 1087 SEK / person / nightHow this list is built
Sportextreme is a travel platform that pairs accommodation with curated experiences rather than selling either on its own, with a focus on sport, diving and adventure trips. So the resorts here are chosen as bases — what is reachable from the beach and from the door counts as much as the property itself.
Everything on the page is quoted from a nightly per-person rate, which makes the properties directly comparable. The spread is wide: 842 SEK at the low end and 2,466 SEK at the top.
Hurghada and Makadi: the all-round base
Hurghada carries the most choice and the lowest entry price. Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh is the cheapest on the page at 842 SEK per person per night, in the Sahl Hasheesh bay south of the city. JAZ Aquamarine sits at 1,087 SEK and SUNRISE Royal Makadi at 1,145 SEK, both on the Makadi Bay resort strip further down the same coast.
Fort Arabesque is the snorkelling pick of the group at 1,305 SEK — listed for its reef access rather than its rooms. Hurghada is also the coast with the shortest airport transfers, which is what makes it workable for a short break rather than a full week.
El Gouna: the design end
El Gouna, on the coast north of Hurghada, holds the two properties on the page that are bought for the architecture and the atmosphere rather than the diving. Sheraton Miramar Resort El Gouna is the area's landmark design resort, at 1,321 SEK per person per night.
Casa Cook El Gouna is the most expensive listing here at 2,466 SEK, and the only adults-only one — which makes it the outlier on a page that is otherwise family-capable.
Marsa Alam: the wildlife coast
Marsa Alam is the southern base, and the one chosen for what is in the water. Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort is listed as a turtle sanctuary at 1,148 SEK per person per night, and Steigenberger Coraya Beach sits on Coraya Bay at 1,375 SEK.
This is the longest drive of the three coasts from its airport, so it rewards longer stays: the trade-off you are making is transfer time for quieter reefs.
Sharm El Sheikh: closest to the parks
Sharm has one resort on the page, Reef Oasis Blue Bay at 1,000 SEK per person per night. It is on the Sinai peninsula rather than the mainland coast, which is the practical difference: Ras Mohammed National Park and the Tiran Strait sit within reach on this side, and the desert interior starts just behind the town.
Picking between them
If price leads, start with Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh, Reef Oasis Blue Bay and JAZ Aquamarine — all at or under about 1,100 SEK per person per night. If the water is the point, Fort Arabesque for reef access straight off the beach, and the two Marsa Alam properties for marine life.
If the stay itself is the holiday, El Gouna is where the design properties are, and Casa Cook is the adults-only option. Sportextreme also lists resorts in the Maldives and Thailand, priced the same way, if the Red Sea is only one candidate.
