Møn from Ellevilde: white cliffs, dark skies, foraging
Prices and details checked .
Ellevilde Boutique Hotel sits at Borre on the eastern end of Møn, inside the island's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and about an hour and a half from Copenhagen. Nine activities are bookable from the hotel: three run in-house, and the rest are run by named local partners who know one thing each very well.

1,950 DKK / TourTwo ways to reach the white cliffs
Møns Klint, the chalk cliffs on the island's east coast, is the reason most people come, and there are two boats. The daily trip runs from Klintholm Harbour with the hotel's partner Discovery — the ordinary way to see the cliffs from the water, which is the only angle that shows their full height.
The other is a sunrise expedition with Klap Hesten, departing from the pier beside their bar. Its departure time moves through the year with the sunrise, and it is priced for the boat rather than the seat: DKK 3,950 for up to nine people. Split across a group it is the better value of the two; alone it is not.
Dark skies, and the two ways to book them
Møn's night sky is protected, and the hotel's stargazing guide, Susanne Rosenild, is an official Dark Sky Ambassador. Her Dark Sky Stargazing tour runs at DKK 1,950 for the tour, which again means a group splits it more comfortably than a couple does.
Klap Hesten runs the other version: dark sky expeditions timed to the full moon and the new moon, at DKK 3,950 for up to nine people, mustering on the quay at Klintholm Harbour. The two dates are deliberate opposites — the new moon for the faintest stars, the full moon for a lit landscape. Pick by which of those you actually want.
Foraging, with the same guide
Susanne Rosenild also runs the guided foraging and nature tours — 'sanket' walks through Møn's woods and coast, at DKK 1,950 per tour. The hotel's kitchen works the same way round, on local and organic ingredients, so a foraging morning and dinner at Restaurant Kenneth E are the two halves of one idea rather than two separate bookings.
What the hotel runs itself
Three of the nine are the hotel's own, and two of those cost nothing. The wine hour is on the house, daily. The Good Night Tea Hour runs every evening from 22:00 to 23:00, a selection of teas before bed.
Bike rental is the third, from DKK 75 per user per day with secure storage — the practical one, because Møn's distances are short and its landscapes change quickly, and cycling covers more of them than a car does at the same pace.
For groups: the distillery
The cocktail workshop tour is the group option, from DKK 225 per person. It runs at a distillery, covering the production chain from harvesting botanicals through extraction and distillation to bottling, and ends where you would expect. It is the only activity on the page priced per head for a group rather than per tour.
Choosing, in practice
If you have one full day: the cliffs by boat in the morning, bikes in the afternoon, dinner at the hotel. If you have a clear forecast and one night: the stargazing tour, and book it before you need it — Møn's dark-sky nights are the thing that cannot be rescheduled at short notice.
If you are more than four people, the two Klap Hesten expeditions change from expensive to reasonable, since both are priced for the whole boat up to nine.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the hotel run these activities itself?
- Three of them: the daily wine hour, the Good Night Tea Hour and bike rental. The cliff and dark-sky expeditions are run by Klap Hesten, the stargazing and foraging tours by nature guide Susanne Rosenild, and the Møns Klint boat trip by Discovery. Each is stated on its own card.
- How do I get to Møns Klint from the hotel?
- By boat from Klintholm Harbour with Discovery, which sails daily, or on the Klap Hesten sunrise expedition from the pier next to their bar. Both are booked through the hotel.
- Why are some activities priced per tour and others per person?
- The Klap Hesten expeditions are DKK 3,950 for the boat, up to nine people, and the stargazing and foraging tours are DKK 1,950 for the tour. Only the cocktail workshop is per person, from DKK 225. For the tour-priced ones the cost per head falls with group size.
- When is the best time for stargazing on Møn?
- Around the new moon if you want the faintest stars, and around the full moon if you want to see the landscape lit. Klap Hesten runs expeditions on both. Beyond that it comes down to cloud cover, so the darker half of the year gives you the most usable hours.
- Is anything free?
- Yes. The daily wine hour is on the house, and the Good Night Tea Hour from 22:00 to 23:00 is included.
- Where is the hotel, and how far is Copenhagen?
- Dalsgårdsvej 2, 4791 Borre, on the eastern part of Møn — roughly 70 km from Copenhagen, with free parking on site. It is family-run, by Kenneth, a chef, and Kirstine.
