“Good travel agencies make arrangements and set up exciting itineraries. GREAT travel agencies do that AND ensure a smooth trip along every step of the journey, including post-travel issues. I'm happy to provide a review that ranks Nordic Visitor as a great travel agency. My wife and I set up a special 12-day self-drive tour of Scotland. We upgraded to the luxury hotel package, along with adding some optional tours (whiskey tours, lake cruise, etc.). Jana did an excellent job setting everything up and ensuring we had our itinerary e-mailed to us and waiting for us at our first hotel. She also answered the many questions we had about the trip before we left and during the first couple of days in Scotland. Midway through our visit, Storm Amy hit Scotland - hard. Sustained winds in the 40-60mph range with 100 mph gusts and lots and lots of rain. Trees came down, roads were closed, access to cities literally cut off by debris. Through it all, Nordic Visitor was there to ensure we were cared for. After getting off the Isle of Skye, we couldn't get to Ft. Williams as every major A- road was shut down. In a phone call to Nordic Visitor's emergency line, that took less than ten minutes, Gabby had us booked at a four star hotel in Invergarry where we were stuck in traffic. We didn't want to go all the way to Inverness (which Gabby offered), so Invergarry worked much better. Also, our Talisker Distillery tour and Loch Ness cruise were cancelled. Not only did Gabby assure us that we would suffer no penalty, she and the team even gave us a credit for the revised itinerary - although to us it was simply part of the adventure. Both the cancelled tour refunds and the revised itinerary credits appeared after we returned home. And we were not alone. We must have spoken to several other Nordic Visitor travelers who also had Storm Amy delays and issues. Without exception, they all complimented the team's ability to reroute, rebook and take care of them. Upon return, we also had an issue with the rental car company (Arnold Lane). Without going into the detail, we got overcharged for some issues with the car admittedly caused by me when we scraped one of the wheels against a curb. Nordic Visitor interceded on our behalf and ensured that we were treated fairly - AFTER we got back home and when Nordic Visitor's role was arguably done. This after trip care was much appreciated with Adele taking responsibility to ensure the matter was resolved equitably. She stayed in touch and made sure to communicate regularly. Adele was able to resolve the issue in a matter of about 48 hours - again post trip! My wife and I do plan to travel more. When we do, you can bet we will be calling and booking through Nordic Visitor for regions they cover. Thank you Jana, Gabby, Adele and the entire NV team for being top notch. “We absolutely loved our 4-night, 5-day Nordic Visitor tour of the Ring Road and Golden Circle in Iceland. We were definitely on the go each day, but were satisfied with the amount of time we had at each stop. Everything was included in our tour except lunch. Those Icelandic hotdogs - crazy tasty! Our guide, Trausti, was the best of the best. He is a fabulous ambassador for his country and knows it inside and out, from history to landscape to poets and more. Every Icelander we met was welcoming and kind. Iceland is a living land, and the Icelanders have a great respect for her ability to change at a moment's notice. We never felt that there were too many tourists in Iceland during our stay. It was like everyone quickly got the message that Icelanders' respect for their land and each other automatically translated to visitors' respect in general. What an important lesson. We highly recommend putting Iceland at the top of your must-experience list and booking your tour with Nordic Visitor. They delivered a stellar tour lead by an outstanding guide. There's no way you won't be moved by this land and her people.”
