Disgusting Food Museum

Disgusting Food Museum is a food museum in Malmö that shows about 80 foods from around the world that many visitors find shocking or unpleasant, including surströmming, casu martzu, and roasted guinea pig. It opened in Malmö on 29 October 2018, later moved from Slagthuset MMX to Södra Förstadsgatan 2, and has been at that address since the summer of 2021. The project was created by Samuel West, the psychologist and curator behind the museum concept, and it sits in 211 43 Malmö just a short walk from Triangeln and Malmö Central station, at the intersection with Drottninggatan. What makes it unusual is that visitors can smell, and in some cases taste, the foods on display, and the museum frames disgust as a way to think about cultural food habits and future sustainable eating. It is generally open daily around 11:00 to 18:00, with ticket time slots and no-visit days such as December 24, so booking ahead is the safest option.
