Fröå gruva - kulturreservat
Fröå Mine is located east of Åre, at the foot of Mount Åreskutan, and is a well-preserved cultural heritage site that tells the story of Jämtland’s mining history. The mine operated from the 1740s until the late 19th century and was mainly used for copper extraction. Today, Fröå Mine is an open-air museum featuring preserved buildings, hiking trails, and information displays illustrating the life and work of the miners. In summer, it is a popular destination offering guided tours, a café, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
