Gammelgården i Ljungdalen

Hembygdsgården is one of the oldest buildings in Ljungdalen, likely dating back to the early 1700s. It is a so-called parstuga (a traditional Swedish farmhouse) that served as a year-round residence for several generations of mountain farmers until 1935. Hembygdsgården is commonly referred to as Gammelgården ("The Old Heritagehouse"). Around Gammelgården, you will find several other fascinating buildings.

These include the stable, the smithy, the slåtterstörröset (a small hut used as a resting place during haymaking), the summer barn (sommarfjös), and a kåta (a traditional Sámi hut) built in a traditional manner in 1992. The farm also features wooden animal figures carved from the region, which children can play with.

Hembygdsföreningen (Local Heritage Association) in Ljungdalen owns and manages Gammelgården and its collection of household and farming tools.
