K A Almgren Sidenväveri & Museum
K. A. Almgren Sidenväveri & Museum is the only still active silk weaving mill in the Nordic region, functioning as both a working factory and a museum. Founded in 1833 by Knut August Almgren, the site was revived in 1991 under Oscar Almgren after a closure in 1974. Located at Repslagargatan 15A in Södermalm, Stockholm, it preserves an authentic industrial environment from the 1860s where silk fabrics and ribbons are woven on original machines. The museum highlights the history of Swedish textile production and the significant role of women in industrialization, offering visitors a chance to see live weaving demonstrations. Open Monday through Saturday from 12:00 to 16:00, it charges 140 SEK for adults, with introductory weaving tours available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 13:00.
