The Chocolate Factory

The Chocolate Factory, or Chokladfabriken, is a chocolate shop, café, and patisserie at Renstiernas gata 12 on Södermalm, where handmade pralines, chocolate bars, petits fours, wedding cakes, ice cream, pastries, drinking chocolate, and coffee are sold. Martin and Ellinor Isaksson founded the business in 1997, and the address served as its production site and largest shop for 24 years; manufacturing moved to Stockholm’s Slakthusområdet in 2023, while the Renstiernas gata premises retained the shop, café, and course facilities. The factory is near the SoFo district and within walking distance of Medborgarplatsen and Nytorget, making it convenient for a chocolate stop while exploring eastern Södermalm. Its distinctive feature is the combination of retail counter, café service, and chocolate-making heritage, with praline-making courses and tastings offered at the venue. Current listed hours are Monday through Saturday 10:00–18:00 and Sunday 11:00–17:00; contact the shop in advance for courses, tastings, wedding cakes, or larger orders.
