Överlännäs kyrka
Överlännäs kyrka is a medieval parish church serving Överlännäs församling in Härnösands stift, built as a rectangular salkyrka measuring 19 by 11 meters with a steep shingle-clad saddle roof, likely during the 1200s or 1300s and first mentioned as an independent pastorat in the 1314 sexårsgärden tax records. Its interior features star vaults added in the late 1400s, while the northern and western walls were extended about 2 meters outward in the 1700s; the pulpit and altar piece were crafted around then by Johan Edler the elder, and the blue drapery painting behind the altar came from kyrkomålare Per Sundin who lived 1760-1827. Inside, two altarpieces stand out: the upper one from the 1600s painted by Frenchman Le Sueur showing the crucified Christ with the two Marys, donated in 1951, and the lower on the predella by G. Ekblom copying Giotto di Bondone's "Death of Saint Francis," also installed that year. A separate wooden belfry from the late 1700s sits west of the churchyard wall along riksväg 335 in Lännäs 204, with its small bell donated in 1770 and the large one added during the 1891 restoration. The church stands alone among Ådalen's medieval churches for keeping its original landscape setting near Ångermanälven river amid Iron Age to modern farm remnants. It's open weekdays 9 to 15 from early summer through weeks around now, though check with Sollefteå pastorat at 0620-83500 since services or weather might affect access.
