Bellman house

Bellmanhuset is the only preserved 18th-century residence of Swedish songwriter Carl Michael Bellman, where he lived as a tenant from 1770 to 1774 while composing his famous Fredmans epistlar. The house was built in 1764 and stands today in nearly its original condition on Urvädersgränd 3 in the Södermalm borough of Stockholm, just a short walk from Slussen station. Owned since 1938 by the music and song order Par Bricole, it was designated a building monument in 1969 by the Stockholm City Museum due to its exceptional cultural-historical value. Guided tours are held on the first Sunday of each month at 13:00, lasting 90 minutes, with no advance booking required and an admission fee of 150 SEK per person. The site offers a rare glimpse into ordinary urban housing of 1700s Stockholm and includes live singing of Bellman’s songs during the tour.
