Ribersborgs Kallbadhus
Ribersborgs Kallbadhus is a historic open-air seawater bathhouse and sauna complex at the end of Brygga 1 on Limhamnsvägen, beside Ribersborgsstranden in Malmö. It opened in June 1898, initiated by the cane manufacturer C.H. Richter, who acquired building materials from Malmö’s former bathhouse at Nyhamnen. A storm destroyed the facility in 1902, after which it was rebuilt with a prominent diving tower on the men’s side; the tower was removed in 1964, while the bathhouse retained separate men’s and women’s sections, sea access, changing rooms, and saunas. The site is notable for bathing directly in the Öresund throughout the year, traditional wood-fired sauna bathing, and views across the strait toward Denmark; Malmö Municipality declared it a building monument on 14 August 1995. It generally operates on a drop-in basis without advance booking, with summer hours from 9:00 to 21:00 Monday through Friday and 9:00 to 18:00 on weekends, while winter hours vary by weekday, so checking the current schedule is advisable before arriving.
