Sånga kyrka
Sånga kyrka is a small medieval stone church located 18.3 kilometers east of central Sollefteå near road 335, built during the 1200s or 1300s and originally constructed from gray stone. The church was likely preceded by a wooden structure, but the primary reason for building on this specific site was a legendary healing spring located in the sacristy, though visitors are advised not to drink from it. During the 1770s, the church underwent major renovation including the installation of larger windows in the medieval walls and was painted a distinctive thick red-brown color according to the fashion of that era. The interior features a pulpit attributed to Johan Edler the Elder and altarpiece paintings by Per Sundin depicting the Adoration of the Magi above and the Annunciation below, with most furnishings dating from the 1770s. The separate wooden bell tower with its white paint was constructed in the 1850s and contains a single bell. The church is open to visitors Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM during weeks 26 through 32 in summer, though the entrance through the bell tower is temporarily closed for safety reasons; visitors wishing to enter at other times can contact the caretaker at 0620-835 68.
