Liljevalchs konsthall

Liljevalchs konsthall is a municipal contemporary-art gallery on Stockholm’s Djurgården, with its original entrance at Djurgårdsvägen 60 and the newer Liljevalchs+ entrance at Falkenbergsgatan 3, near Gröna Lund and the Vasa Museum. The main building was constructed from 1913 to 1916 and inaugurated in March 1916, financed through the estate of industrialist Carl Fredrik Liljevalch the Younger and designed by architect Carl Bergsten. Its indirect skylights, restrained Nordic classicism, and purpose-built exhibition rooms made it one of Sweden’s earliest independent public galleries for contemporary art. The annual Vårsalongen, established in 1921, gives both established and unknown artists an opportunity to exhibit and sell work; the first opening exhibition included Carl Larsson, Anders Zorn, and Bruno Liljefors. Regular hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with late opening until 20:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays; summer hours and exhibition-specific closures can differ.
