Skadom Clockhouse
Klockhuset i Skadom is a museum housed in a converted barn located about 500 meters from the railway crossing in the Boteå area near Sollefteå, containing approximately 700 to 800 mechanical clocks and watches spanning four centuries, with pieces ranging from over 500 years old to contemporary timepieces from both Swedish and international makers. The collection represents nearly 50 years of dedicated gathering by Torbjörn Holmer, who obtained his first clock decades ago and expanded the museum with architectural assistance from his brother Lars. The museum displays wall clocks, table clocks, alarm clocks, and related objects including books and art connected to clockmaking, all arranged within the expanded barn structure. Visitors experience guided tours led by the owner, who shares specific stories about individual pieces in the collection, and the facility includes a barnyard café serving home-baked refreshments. The museum operates on weekends from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, with guided tours and refreshments available year-round by appointment, and entrance costs 65 SEK. The surrounding landscape of forests and meadows in the Höga Kusten region provides a rural setting that contrasts with the museum's substantial international timepiece collection.
