Malmo Museum

Malmö Museum is a municipal and regional museum in Malmö that showcases exhibitions on technology, shipping, natural history, and local history, and includes an aquarium with live fish and amphibians. It was established in 1985, originally named Malmö Museer until 2023 when it was renamed Malmö Museum. The museum is operated by the city of Malmö and the region of Skåne, with no single individual founder but rather a collective municipal and regional initiative. Located at Malmöhusvägen 6, it sits in a lush green area surrounded by canals in central Malmö, adjacent to Malmöhus Castle, Nordens äldsta bevarade renässansslott. Notable features include the real submarine U3, the children’s boat playroom, the interactive Ideplaneten science zone, and access to the historic castle’s royal apartment. The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, and it’s best to visit on weekdays to avoid crowds, especially if you plan to explore the castle and aquarium together.
