Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde

Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde is an art museum and former royal residence on Djurgården, at Prins Eugens väg 6 in Stockholm’s 115 21 district. Prince Eugen, the landscape painter and art collector, bought the estate around 1900; architect Ferdinand Boberg designed the main mansion, completed in 1905, and the gallery wing was added in 1913. After Prince Eugen died at Waldemarsudde in 1947, he left the house, gardens, furnishings, and art collections to the Swedish state, and the museum opened to the public in 1948. The collection includes about 3,200 works by Prince Eugen and roughly 3,500 works by nearly 450 artists, with Nordic art by figures such as Anders Zorn, Ernst Josephson, Richard Bergh, and Eugène Jansson, while the waterside gardens contain sculptures including works by Auguste Rodin and Carl Milles. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with Thursday opening until 20:00; Mondays are closed, and tram 7 from central Stockholm stops at Waldemarsudde.
