The Vasa Museum Restaurant
The Vasa Museum Restaurant is a Swedish café and lunch restaurant inside the Vasa Museum at Djurgårdsstrand 1 on Stockholm’s Djurgården island, beside the 17th-century warship Vasa, which sank on its maiden voyage in 1628 and was recovered in 1961. It serves dishes such as Swedish meatballs with cream sauce and lingonberries, daily specials, salads, sandwiches, vegetarian options, pastries and traditional fika, using mainly local and organic Swedish ingredients prepared on site. Its distinctive setting includes views into the museum’s ship hall, and the restaurant can host candlelit dinners beside the enormous Vasa ship. From September through May it is open daily from 10:00 to 16:30, with Wednesday opening until 19:00; from June through August it opens from 09:00 to 17:30, with hot food served until 16:00. It is cash-free, and gluten-free or lactose-free meals should be requested in advance; arriving before the main lunch period is the easiest way to find a table.
