Gallerian

Gallerian is a covered urban shopping centre at Hamngatan 37 in Stockholm’s Norrmalm district, with entrances near Sergels torg, Kungsträdgården and the department store NK. It opened on 7 October 1976 after being designed from an initial 1968 concept by architect Sune Malmquist, and King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia inaugurated the centre. Gallerian was Sweden’s first major enclosed shopping gallery and replaced the historic Norra Smedjegatan as part of the large-scale redevelopment of the Klarakvarteren. The centre was substantially modernised and expanded in 2003–2004, and now combines fashion, beauty, design, cafés and restaurants under one roof in the centre of Stockholm. Shops generally open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00, Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00 and Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00, although individual businesses may keep different hours.
