The Tea Centre of Stockholm
The Tea Centre of Stockholm is a specialist tea shop on Hornsgatan 46 in Södermalm, offering loose-leaf teas from around the world, including black, green, oolong, white, Darjeeling, and single-origin varieties. The business was established in 1978, making it one of Sweden’s longest-established tea retailers, and is associated with Vernon and Gihan Mauris, whose Sri Lankan heritage is reflected in products such as the Ceylon-based Tea Centre Blend. Its most distinctive creation is Sencha H2O, developed in 2001 after the Maurises brought Stockholm water to Japan’s Shizuoka prefecture to blend with Japanese tea. The shop is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00; it is closed Sundays, and no reservation is normally needed.
