The Viking Museum
The Viking Museum is an interactive museum dedicated to the history of the Vikings in Sweden and the wider Viking Age in Scandinavia. It is on Djurgårdsstrand 15, 115 21 Stockholm, on Djurgården near the city’s museum district and close to the Vasa Museum and the Swedish History Museum. The museum opened in 2017 and was developed by the team behind the earlier Vikingaliv concept, with the museum itself presented as The Viking Museum. Its main draw is the mix of archaeological artefacts, reconstructed environments, guided tours in historical costume, and the ride-like experience Ragnfrid’s Saga, which tells a Viking family story through a 3D journey. It is open daily, with English and Swedish guided tours offered every hour, and the standard hours are usually 11:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 17:00 on weekends, so booking ahead is sensible on busy cruise-ship and summer days.
