Pet Sounds

Pet Sounds is an independent record shop specializing in new and second-hand vinyl, CDs, and music-related releases at Skånegatan 53 in Södermalm’s SoFo district. Stefan Jacobson founded the store in 1979 after working in record shops from age 15; it moved to Södermalm in 1993 and expanded in 2004. The shelves combine established artists such as Kraftwerk and Bob Dylan with contemporary indie releases, making the shop particularly useful for discovering Swedish and international music beyond mainstream selections. Quentin Tarantino is known to count Pet Sounds among his favorite Stockholm places, and the store’s history was documented in Lennart Persson’s book Musik NonStop: Pet Sounds i Våra Hjärtan. It opens Monday through Friday from 11:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 11:00 to 16:00; it is closed Sundays, and Saturday is the most convenient time for browsing if weekday hours do not fit.
