Stockholm Toy Museum

Stockholm Toy Museum is a toy and comics museum, known in Swedish as Leksaksmuseet, with about 40,000 objects ranging from the 17th century onward and billed as Northern Europe’s largest privately owned toy collection. It first opened on 30 August 1980, and the current museum at Bergrummet on Skeppsholmen opened there in 2017 after earlier being housed at Mariatorget and, for a time, at Tidö Castle. The museum was developed by director and owner David von Schinkel together with set designer Caroline Romare and architect Louise Robinson. Its address is Svensksundsvägen 5, 111 49 Stockholm, right by the bridge to Skeppsholmen, and the setting inside a 2,500-square-meter rock cavern is part of the appeal, with themed displays, light and sound effects, a café, and a museum shop. It is usually open daily from 10:00 to 17:00; no reservation is needed for regular visits, but booking can help on busy days, and guided tours are only offered for pre-booked groups.
