Döderhultarmuseet
In Oskarshamn's Kulturhus is the Döderhultarmuseet with an exhibition about Axel "Döderhultarn" Petersson. Here are nearly 200 of his best works. Döderhultarn is one of Sweden's most famous woodcarvers. He was born in 1868 in the parish of Döderhult. However, he lived and worked in Oskarshamn his entire adult life. His breakthrough did not come until 1909, but after that it happened quickly. In just a few years, Döderhultarn's roughly carved wooden figures had conquered all of Europe with their melancholic charm. On his deathbed in 1925, Döderhultarn was world-famous.
