Pildammsparken

Pildammsparken is Malmö’s large public park and green district, laid out as a neoclassical park of about 45 hectares around the old willow ponds, Pildammarna. It was created for the Baltic Exhibition of 1914, with the park developed afterward into a permanent city park; the two dams themselves predate the exhibition and originally served as a reservoir for Malmö residents. The site is on Margaretavägen in postal code 217 46 Malmö, and its main features include Blomstergatan, the rose garden, the ponds with fountains, and Tallriken, a circular event arena with a 160-meter diameter. What makes it stand out is the strong early-20th-century planning, the three fountains and evening light-and-sound water display, and the mix of formal park design, open lawns, and event spaces. It is open every day all day, free to enter, and the fountains are easiest to see in the evening in summer, while the park’s main paths are fully accessible.
