Slottsparken

Slottsparken is a 21-hectare public park in Malmö, created on former military training grounds south of Malmöhus Castle; work began in 1897 and the park opened in 1900. Danish landscape architect Edvard Glaesel designed the park, reshaping low-lying, marshy land into wooded areas, broad lawns, artificial hills, ponds, canals and walking paths. It lies directly beside Malmöhus Castle, west of central Malmö, with bridges across the canal linking it to Kungsparken and the castle grounds; the 1851 Slottsmöllan windmill stands nearby. A major restoration around the large pond took place from 1985 to 1987, and the park is particularly suited to a walk combining water views, the castle setting and Malmö’s connected central parkland. Entry is free, and the park is generally accessible around the clock throughout the year.
