Cirkus

Cirkus is a historic theater, concert hall, restaurant, and nightlife venue at Djurgårdsslätten 43–45 on Stockholm’s Royal Djurgården, near Skansen and the ABBA The Museum, with the postal address 115 21 Stockholm. The current building was inaugurated on May 25, 1892, after being built by confectioner M. Davidson; its zinc quadriga was created by sculptor C. J. Dyfverman. Originally designed for visiting circus companies, it later hosted circus performances until 1957, served as a television studio, and reopened as a privately owned theater after restoration in 1990. Cirkus became a listed historic building in 1983 and now includes the main auditorium, bars, restaurants, event spaces, and the modern Skandiascenen annex, opened in 2015 and designed by White Arkitekter. Its main stage has hosted artists including The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, and Elton John, while the venue currently operates mainly around scheduled concerts, theater, musicals, and shows rather than as a walk-in bar; check the specific event listing for doors, performance times, and restaurant reservations.
