Oscar Theater

Oscarsteatern is a private musical theatre, not a standalone bar, at Kungsgatan 63 in central Stockholm’s Norrmalm district, near Kungsbropalatset, Stockholm Central Station, and Hötorget. Designed in Art Nouveau by architect Axel Anderberg, it opened on December 6, 1906, and was named after King Oscar II. The auditorium has traditionally held about 1,175 seats and is known for musicals, operettas, revues, and large-scale stage productions. Drinks, snacks, and sweets are served in the ornate Guldfoajén during performances, while the theatre’s Tredje Raden restaurant can offer pre-show dining when scheduled. Opening times depend on the production; the box office has generally operated Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 18:00, and advance reservations are advisable for both performances and restaurant seating.
