Nordiska Galleriet

Nordiska Galleriet is a historic furniture and interior-design store at Nybrogatan 11, on the corner of Riddargatan in Stockholm’s Östermalm district. The building was commissioned by Anders Andersson and completed in 1912 in National Romantic style; its original auction hall evolved into a high-quality antique-furniture shop before Andersson’s nephew Carl-Otto Heigard took over in 1929 and established the Nordiska Galleriet name in 1933. The showroom is known for Scandinavian and international modern design, including historic introductions of Danish designers such as Finn Juhl and Jörgen Høj in the 1950s and Italian brands including Cassina and B&B Italia through the 1967 exhibition Viva l’Italia. Axel Söderberg acquired the company in 2016 and began a further modernization, while the store continues to occupy the same Nybrogatan premises. It is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00, Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00, and Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00; weekday mornings are generally the quietest time for browsing its furniture and lighting displays.
